An unexpected hug in the middle of a pitch black stairway in a parallel universe during a mental breakdown from what at least physically looks like future self dressed in the exact same clothing as you with blood red eyes, a skull tattoo across half their face and pure white hair – Personally I can’t think of anything that would calm me down more, short of being in a plane crash.
If nobody else will, I’ll state the obvious: naked sword girl looks a lot like Jeane might after a brush with necromancy. Is this a future/alternate version of her breaking a metaphysical barrier to bring some wisdom?

IMO she’s her inner braver self and all the story is in her mind. Every story and dream is and even some facets of reality are as well.
I can definitely confirm to you that the story does not take place in Jeane’s mind.

Is she naked? It looks in the last panel that she’s wearing the same clothes as our reluctant heroine.
