Soma Journal #8
Long time no see everybody, and happy Friday. I hope you all have been enjoying Chapter 3 so far, as of today there’s six pages left before a brief break, and then we’ll move onto Chapter 4. Page 47 also marks the beginning of the first action scene of the comic. This IS an action-adventure comic I swear, it’s just first and foremost a story about a sad girl and how she interacts with and changes the world and people around her, and vice versa. I’m a big writery type so I like writing dialogue, and you’re either here for it or here despite it– Either one is fine by me.
We’re also rapidly approaching the comic’s first milestone: 50 pages! I would love to do something special for it, so if you have any thoughts or ideas, please do reply to me here.
Since I kind of ran out of things to write for COOL GATE FACTS I’ve decided to adapt the format so that they’ll be attached to relevant page descriptions if I have something to say about it.
I hope to see you again next week

I guess I missed (or forgot) where you promised this was an action-adventure comic, but I have no complaints either way since I enjoy both. I’m a pretty patient reader and I love world building and character development, so my tolerance for ‘non-actiony bits’ is quite a bit higher than average, especially if the story is interesting (which it is to date).
When you say something special for page 50, what are you thinking? Non-canon, fourth wall breaking, side-splitting humor? Something to add to the world building, like a map? A Q&A with the cast? Random filler that showcases the flora and fauna of some area we’ve been introduced to or that will be introduced eventually? An explanation of how the port operates for such a huge city? There are a lot of options, even simply a “Happy 50th!” for Jeane and Vasha reacting could be entertaining.
A Q&A might be fun actually, that’s a good idea. Though I might save that for 99 pages because there will be a lot more characters to choose from then, and we’ll be in the thick of the story.
Just general ideas are what I’m looking for, you’ve given me several good ones here.
